The Commission Saga.

Quite a while ago, I asked artist Chris Haley (of Let’s Be Friend’s Again fame) for a commission of Calvin from Calvin & Hobbes. After a while with no communication, I emailed him asking about it, he apologised, saying he had forgotten about it (it was cool, he was setting up his own business/studio/thing), but would get right on it. I got a request for the payment, paid, then sat back and waited. 

That was February. Earlier this month, I emailed him again asking about it. I’m not going to lie, I was a bit annoyed. But whilst I was away, he replied explaining what had happened and promising to include something special in the package to make up for it.

And boy did it. I got the package this morning and man it’s awesome. 

This is the piece I ordered. I love how you can just see Hobbes’ eyes in the background. It’s exactly what I didn’t know what I wanted.

But the special piece. Oh baby, the special piece. I believe I have mentioned Comics Alliance on this blog before, and I’m pretty sure I mentioned their pitch for a House M.D.-esque show about Dr. Strange. The first pitch they did was for a TV show about a grown-up Calvin. Not only did it sound awesome, but the art was cool.

And now I have the original.

Suck it. I’m framing both of these bad boys.
